Scope of works:
Remove existing generator from plant room, and replace with new… in the middle of the sea!
Ok so not quite in the middle of the sea, but on Nomans Fort in the middle of the Solent between Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight.
The swap out works were fairly standard, but the logistics were… different.
The swap out works were fairly standard, but the logistics were… different. Go to work by boat every morning, miss the boat and you miss the days work. Generator delivered by boat etc. Nomans Fort is a fully functioning hotel with their generator being prime power, so limited down time was key. We had 5 days from turning the prime running generator off, to guests arriving the following weekend expecting power!
From stripping down the existing set to be able to get it out of the room, to delivery and positioning of the new set, this job required a lot of planning!
Everything had to go ‘swimmingly’ from start to finish and we managed to get power back on with 24 hours to spare!
